    The ScottNet

The ScottNet® Web Board System.

The ScottNet® Web Board system is a comprehensive BBS style threaded discussion system.

BBS Style

This system focuses on non-real time discussions.  Most organizations do not require real time discussions, but rather need a robust, secure, and manageable discussion board system.

Operate open or closed discussions

Each board uses configuration properties for controlling who may post to the discussion.  You can configure the discussion boards to suit any operational requirement.

Security Features

You can restrict access to a discussion to only those who are explicitly approved.  You can "hold" posts until they are approved by a discussion manager allowing your organization complete control over what appears on your board(s).

Automated Message Distribution

This system has been used to automatically classify and re-post information to one or more Internet services such as NNTP News Groups or YahooGroups™ message boards via e-mail.

Automated message management

The system can be configured to manage the expiration of messages automatically from the discussion board.  This makes the system a completely automated solution.

Use Case Examples

Case A - a professionals organization

The system could be used to accept and classify or categorize postings and store it in a permanent archive.  It could then re-post the original submission with its additional meta data to either a NNTP news group or to a YahooGroups™ discussion via e-mail.

Case B - an intranet

A user may create a threaded discussion regarding a topic such as sales trends or competitive research.  He then could invite his associates to participate.  Using the board, the sales associates stay completely up to date with trends or competitive analysis via a mechanism that is secure and available anywhere in the world.
